Birth Support

What is a doula?

A doula is a support person. Doulas are trained to provide continuous labor support, one-on-one, physical support, and emotional support during labor. Doulas also provide information and support to families before or during birth and into the postpartum period.

What are the benefits of doula care?

  • Decrease in Cesarean Section rates

  • Increase in spontaneous vaginal delivery

  • Better APGAR scores

  • A better birth experience

  • Decreased risk of postpartum depression

You can listen to a wonderful podcast about doula support here: Evidence Based Birth

Comfort support for labor

What's your birth philosophy?

This is a very common question, and one where the answer changes often. I feel strongly that everyone who wants a doula should get one. Feeling supported throughout your pregnancy and birth can have an impact on your birth experience.
I want to support you as your family grows. This is one of life's biggest transitions and you can't have too much support. Throughout pregnancy I will answer your questions and listen to you gush about your pregnancy. The good and the bad.
I will provide a listening ear and offer advice and resources as needed. Once you are in labor I will be with your in person from the time you request support until about two hours after your baby is born.
I'll provide insight on best positions and comfort measures and remind your other support people how to best help you and when to take a break. With me, you will always get non-judgmental support.
