I believe that any person who wants a doula should have one. I also think it's important to recognize that not everyone who wants a doula can afford one. I have always had a desire to help people and feel that providing doula support to clients at a discounted rate is my way to give back.
The equity fund is a way to offset the cost for clients while making sure that I get paid a sustainable fee. Right now the equity fund provides assistance to those seeking help with birth support and childbirth education.
